A full-motion (articulating) mount lets you pull the TV out, swivel it toward the couch or the kitchen, and push it back flat when you are done. Because the arm puts leverage on the wall, the install has to be right: we anchor into studs or masonry and test the full range of motion before we leave.
Full-motion arms work best on walls where the TV needs to angle toward more than one seat, in corners, or in open-plan LA apartments where the TV is watched from the kitchen. If the TV will always face straight ahead, a fixed or tilt mount sits closer to the wall and costs less.
